FCNC GENERAL MEETING

Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the Village Concept

Parks and Recreation Board

Monday Evening, June 10, 6:30, Tates Creek Christian Church

Dear Neighbors,

Please attend the FCNC General Meeting scheduled for this Monday Evening, June 10 at Tates Creek Christian Church at 6:30. The registration table will be open at 6:15.

Our speakers will include Graham Rowles, who is a retiree from the University of Kentucky and a Gerontologist. He will be speaking about Neighbors Helping Neighbors and the Village Concept. It’s a national movement with various models to help people with needs–especially seniors–and allow them to age in place and continue to lead successful lives. To acquire some prior knowledge about the Village concept, you can search the Internet under VILLAGE CONCEPT.

Our second speakers will be David Lowe and Virginia Meyer from the Parks and Recreation Board. They will talk about Lexington’s Parks and Recreation Division and its request for a portion of Lexington’s Property Tax to meet growing needs and diminishing resources. A referendum on a parks portion of your property tax is scheduled for the November 2024 ballot; these are the people that can talk about it with accuracy. They anticipate a question and answer session which will be an opportunity to talk about your assessment of park needs and direction. Neighborhoods value individual parks for the addition of greenspace, appearance, social opportunities, and recreation.

Please plan on attending!
